TGS, a provider of multi-client geoscience data to oil and gas companies, has decided to expand its multi-client library offshore Africa by an additional 11,500 kilometers of long offset broadband 2D seismic data in cooperation with PGS and GeoPartners.
Namely, the expansion regards the Northwest African Atlantic Margin (NWAAM) area, more precisely the Mauritania-Senegal-Gambia-Bissau-Conakry (MSGBC) region.
TGS said on Friday that, apart from the acquisition of 2D broadband seismic data in the mentioned areas, the expansion will entail magnetic and gravity data, in the Republic of Guinea, Guinea-Bissau and the AGC joint exploration zone between Guinea-Bissau and Senegal.
The company added that the acquisition of this first phase of the NWAAM expansion would begin in November 2016.
According to TGS, the NWAAM 2017 seismic survey has been designed to infill, extend and complement the company’s NWAAM 2D survey from 2012.
BGP’s Dong Fang Kan Tan 1 seismic vessel, equipped with a 12 km deep-tow streamer, will record high-quality broadband 2D seismic data, which will image the pre-rift, syn-rift and post-rift plays evident in this basin.
