Greece-based Chartworld Shipping Corporation has placed an order for two Capesize vessels at China’s Jinhai Heavy Industries, according to data provided by VesselsValue.

Featuring 208,000 dwt, the new bulk carriers are scheduled for delivery in 2019.

The Greek shipowner is reportedly paying 38.5 million for each of the 28,038 mt ships, while VesselsValue data shows the Capesizes have a market value of USD 35.8 million a piece.

The shipbuilding deal includes an option for two more vessels of the same type.

If the shipowner exercises the option, the additional two Capezies would also join their owner in 2019.

In January 2017, the company reached an agreement to buy a Panamax bulk carrier Epson Trader 2 from Japanese Nisshin Shipping for a price of USD 12.2 million.

Chartworld Shipping Corporation controls a fleet of 64 vessels in the dry bulk, tanker, reefer and container sectors.

The company’s fleet consist of 10 bulk carriers, 27 refrigerated cargo vessels, 7 tankers and 22 container ships, according to Chartworld Shipping.
