Poland’s Energomontaż-Północ Gdynia (EPG) has loaded and shipped out 26 out of 30 external platforms ordered by Bladt Industries for the 385MW Arkona offshore wind farm.

Ten platforms with a total weight 240 tonnes were loaded onto Rix Pacific from EPG’s premises in Gdynia as part of the latest shipment.

The load-out of the last four platforms is planned for early March.

All of the external platforms, with a breadth of 9.5 metres and a length 11.5 metres, were entirely fabricated in EPG production hall on Handlowa Street in Gdynia.

The Arkona project is located in the Baltic Sea, 35 kilometers northeast of Rügen Island.

The wind farm will consist of 60 turbines and will cover an area of around 40 square metres.

Bladt Industries and EEW SPC are in charge of supplying the foundations for the project, with EEW delivering the 60 monopiles and Bladt providing the transition pieces.

Both companies started working on the project in August 2016. Installation of large components is scheduled to start in 2017.

Arkona will comprise 6MW Siemens turbines, which A2SEA will start installing in 2018.

The EUR 1.2 billion offshore wind farm, owned and developed by E.ON and Statoil, will be fully commissioned in 2019.
