The wind turbine nacelles for the 40MW Tahkoluoto offshore wind farm in Finland have arrived to the Port of Pori.

The EUR 120 million wind farm will comprise ten Siemens 4MW turbines installed off Pori.

The first wind turbine blades arrived to Mäntyluoto port in Pori at the beginning of April.

The turbine installation will take place approximately from mid-June to mid-July, a spokesperson from Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy, the company developing the world’s first offshore wind farm designed for icy conditions, said.

Tahkoluoto is slated for commissioning during the autumn of 2017.

The offshore construction of the Tahkoluoto wind farm off Pori began last spring, with Jan De Nul preparing the seabed for the installation of the wind farm’s ten foundations and subsea cables. Jan De Nul is responsible for dredging, seabed preparation work, and the installation of foundations and wind turbines for the project.

The company announced on 3 April that its wind farm installation vessel Vole au vent will mobilise for the Finnish offshore wind farm immediately after the Nobelwind project in Belgium.

The installation of the wind farm’s gravity-based foundations will start in late May. The subsea cables will be installed by July 2017.
