The Netherlands-based Acta Marine has contracted Norway’s Ulstein Power and Control AS to deliver complete power and control system for a construction support vessel (CSV) currently under construction at Ulstein Verft.

The delivery includes complete packages of automation (ULSTEIN IAS), power management and control systems, maritime communication, integrated bridge solution and distribution and electric propulsion systems.

The new DP2 vessel is primarily aimed at the offshore wind market and carries the new SX195 design from Ulstein Design & Solutions.

The new 94-metre CSV will be able to accommodate up to 120 people in 80 cabins. It will be equipped with an SMST provided Dynamic Motion Compensated Gangway system, mounted on an integrated tower with height adjustment and a personnel/cargo lift.

Additionally, the vessel features a 3D-motion compensated crane with 6t lifting capacity. Cargo area is 500 square metres indoors, and 500 square metres outdoors. The vessel shall provide for walk-to-work transfer of personnel and cargo in significant wave-heights (Hs) of up to 3 metres.

Acta’s new CSV can take on assignments in commissioning and construction in the offshore wind farm installation phase, and perform maintenance tasks on completed wind farms. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in early 2018.

“We are very pleased to have landed this contract. This gives us a solid entrance in delivering key systems to vessels operating in the offshore wind market, a market where we see a great potential for many of our products and systems. As an example, we believe that more efficient Power solutions will lead to major benefits for the type of operations executed by these ships. Our goal is to develop eco-responsible solutions for offshore wind vessels, and for the operators to make as little environmental impact as possible,” said Ulstein Power & Control’s managing director Gunnar H. Hide.
