Italian oil and gas contractor, Saipem has secured contract variations for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation activities on for the Zohr gas field, for a total amount of $900 million.
Under a contract signed with Petrobel a joint venture between Eni’s Egyptian unit, IEOC and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, Saipem will carry out activities on the optimised ramp up phase for the Zohr field development project in the Mediterranean Sea off the Egyptian coast.
The current variations to the scope of work include the installation of a 30-inch diameter gas export pipeline and an 8-inch diameter service pipeline, as well as EPCI work for the field development in deep water (up to 1700 metres) of 4 wells and the installation of umbilicals.
Works will commence in July 2017 and are due to be completed by the end of 2018, Saipem said on Thursday.
Saipem said it will deploy the ultra-deep water pipelayer Castorone, the subsea field development ship Saipem FDS2, the Saipem 3000 subsea construction vessel, as well as the Castoro 6 and the trenching barge Castoro 10.
