Marine seismic acquisition player Shearwater Geoservices has been awarded a UK North Sea high-resolution 3D project on the Tolmount field for Premier Oil.
The Tolmount field, located off the coast of Yorkshire, is one of the largest recent discoveries made in the Southern Gas Basin.
The initial phase of development of the field, which will target the Tolmount main structure, aims to recover 540 Bcf (P50 estimate) of gas from four producing wells at a plateau production capacity of 300 mmscfd.
Shearwater Geoservices said on Thursday that the survey was scheduled to start late in the second quarter of 2018 and would be executed by the Polar Duchess.
The survey is expected to take about one month and will provide high-resolution imaging of approximately 400 square kilometers of the Tolmount Field.

Shearwater has recently won two contracts with oil companies in Africa. Namely, Shearwater won a 3D seismic acquisition deal for Genel Energy offshore Morocco and a five-month contract for an undisclosed client in West Africa.
Also, the company won a deal with TGS on the Norwegian Continental Shelf to expand the TGS’ Atlantic Margin multi-client program in the Norwegian Sea.
Tolmount development
Premier Oil is looking to sanction of the Tolmount offshore field development project in 2018.
The Tolomount field was discovered by E.ON in 2011. The field became a part of the Premier Oil portfolio after Premier bought E.On’s UK North Sea assets in early 2016 for $120 million. At the time of the acquisition, the company dubbed Tolmount as one of the largest discoveries in the Southern Gas Basin in recent years with estimated gross resources of 200Bcf-1Tcf.
Premier selected a development concept in February 2017, comprising of a standalone normally unmanned installation (NUI) and a new gas export pipeline to shore.
