Norwegian oil company Equinor has received consent to drill an exploration well in the Norwegian Sea.

The well 6406/2-9 S will be drilled using the West Phoenix semi-submersible drilling rig, in block 6406/2.

The well is to be drilled to investigate a prospect named “Ragnfrid Nord”, just south of the Kristin field in the central Norwegian Sea

Water depth at the site is 278 meters.

Drilling is scheduled to begin in early June 2018. It is estimated to last for 81 days, depending on whether a discovery is made.
