The San Jacinto River debris removal scheme is nearing its half-way completion mark, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Galveston District said in their latest announcement.

At the moment, the West Fork of the San Jacinto River Emergency Debris Removal Project reached 45 percent completion.

The two dredges have removed a combined total of approximately 805,000 cubic yards of material to date, and nearly 300 tons of debris such as trees, etc.

Dredging is expected to be finished in mid-April, said USACE.

“Due to safety concerns, the public is reminded not to enter the dredged material placement areas as they are considered active construction sites, ” according to USACE’s official statement.
