OceansAdvance has elected new members to the board of directors during its Annual General Meeting held on Thursday.
The new members of the OceansAdvance board are Paul Brett from the Marine Institute, Bill Donovan from Kraken Robotic Systems, Mike Maguire from Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) who has been re-elected and Shelly Petten from PanGeo Subsea.
Paul Brett is the current head of the School of Ocean technology at Memorial’s Marine Institute. Paul holds a M.Sc (Geography) from Memorial University of Newfoundland, as well as undergraduate degrees in Education (Post-Secondary), Physics and Geography.
Paul is committed to the ocean tech sector in the Newfoundland & Labrador,Canada.
Bill Donovan has been an active member within OceansAdvance for the past ten years. After spending eight years as an account manager with the Research and Development Corporation, Bill is now the senior program manager with Kraken Robotic Systems.
He has been working closely with Newfoundland and Labrador SMEs for over 20 years and he has helped support and grow several companies.
Furthermore, Shelly Petten, who is marketing and communications manager at PanGeo Subsea, has joined the OceansAdvance board.
Prior to PanGeo, Shelly was an economic development officer with Tourism, Culture, Industry & Innovation at the provincial government. She was responsible for the ocean technology sector development and more recently worked on the internationalization file for ocean technology.
In addition, OceansAdvance has re-elected Mike Maguire, a special advisor for Regulatory Reform at CAPP, to the board of directors.
Michael Maguire is a professional engineer with more than 27 years’ experience in the offshore oil and gas and marine transportation industries.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Naval Architectural Engineering at Memorial University of Newfoundland and is registered as a professional engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador, the United Kingdom Engineering Council and the European Federation of National Engineering Associations.
He also maintains memberships in the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME), and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
