The removal project, which is part of an ongoing rig chase multi-client campaign, is expected to begin this fall and take 3-4 weeks to complete, Oceaneering said on Wednesday.

Contract management is a cross border operation between Oceaneering’s Norway and UK teams.

“We are excited to work with Lundin Norway on this campaign featuring our vessel-based wellhead removal solution,” said Rune H. Rosnes , Business Development Manager, Oceaneering.

“Our multi-client campaigns allow all operators to benefit from economies of scale, thus reducing subsea plug and abandonment costs to a minimum.”

“We have considered cost/benefit and risk of moving this activity from rig to vessel and found it attractive to award this contract to Oceaneering,” said Geir Smaaskjær , Lundin Operations Manager Norway.

To date Oceaneering has more than ten wells in U.K. and Norway awarded to its 2019 Rig Chase multi-client campaign.
