Norwegian seismic company SeaBird has now received a letter of award for the provision of source services for two OBN surveys to be carried out in West Africa.

The award follows a letter of intent given to the company on November 11, 2019 . At the time, the company said that it was for exclusive provision of source vessel services for an OBN survey in the Eastern Hemisphere.
SeaBird said on Monday that the surveys had an expected total duration of about 80 days with the first survey expected to start in April 2020. The second survey will follow immediately after, and both will be conducted by the Eagle Explorer vessel.
The company also stated that the time charter agreement with EMGS for the Petrel Explorer originally contained two options for EMGS to extend the contract by six months each.
The first of these two options has been converted to six monthly options. EMGS declared the first option, meaning that the charter period for the Petrel Explorer was now firm until April 30, 2020.
