Following the launch of the Fécamp offshore wind project, EDF Renewables, Enbridge, and wpd have revealed the Tier 1 suppliers for the 500 MW French offshore wind farm.
Siemens Gamesa will provide 71 SWT-7.0-154 offshore wind turbines, each with a capacity of 7 MW. The contract also includes a 15-year maintenance period.
These turbines will be manufactured in the plant Siemens Gamesa is to build in Le Havre, at which construction is set to begin this summer.
Bouygues Construction, in cooperation with Saipem and Boskalis, is in charge of supplying, delivering, and installing the wind turbine foundations for the project.
The manufacturing of the gravitational foundations for the wind turbines will start this summer at the Grand Port Maritime site, the developers said. The wind turbines will be assembled at the Port of Cherbourg.
AS previously reported, Chantiers de l’Atlantique, GE Grid Solutions, and SDI are in charge of delivering the offshore substation for the wind farm.
Prysmian will deliver and install the inter-array cables and the export cables for the wind farm.
Located between 13 kilometres and 22 kilometres from the coast of northwest France, the EUR 2 billion Fécamp offshore wind farm is scheduled to come online in 2023.
