Abu Dhabi-headquartered Ocean Oilfield Integrated Solutions has embarked on its new maintenance and upgrade job, which was awarded for two jack-up barges by the UAE-headquartered Gulf Marine Services (GMS), a provider of self-propelled, self-elevating support vessels for the offshore oil, gas, and renewables industries.
After Gulf Marine Services picked Ocean Oilfield for two jack-up barge maintenance and upgrade projects, GMS Kawawa and GMS Scirocco arrived at the Mussafah Shipyard in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The refurbishment work began last week.

The 2007-built GMS Kawawa is a self-propelled self-elevating accommodation jack-up barge. This K-Class vessel is capable of providing well service, construction, and accommodation capabilities for up to 150 people. Equipped with a 45-ton crane, it can operate in water depths of up to 45 meters.
While the 2015-built GMS Scirocco is a self-propelled, self-elevating accommodation DPII jack-up barge, this is an S-Class vessel, which is capable of providing well service, construction, installation, and accommodation capabilities for up to 150 persons. The barge has a 150-ton crane and can operate in water depths of up to 55 meters.
Recently, Ocean Oilfield completed the maintenance and upgrade activities on another jack-up barge, GMS Shamal, which sailed out from the firm’s Sharjah Hamriyah Shipyard following a thirty-day maintenance program that was completed within the time frame.
Prior to this, the Abu Dhabi firm wrapped up the reactivation and upgrade work on one of Borr Drilling’s jack-up rigs, which left the shipyard to start its new drilling assignment in the Middle East.
Ocean Oilfield operates three shipyard engineering facilities in the UAE, fully equipped to support EPC, MODU modifications, refurbishments, and upgrades.
A few months ago, one of the firm’s jack-up rigs arrived at an offshore gas field in the UAE and started its work for Atlantis (UAQ) Limited.
