AGR, part of the Oslo-listed global energy, marine, and engineering consultancy ABL Group, has secured a contract extension with Equinor for the provision of blowout and well control studies on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).
The two-year contract extension will see AGR offer Equinor a suite of services such as blowout contingency planning, well control emergency response, casing magnetization service, and general transient flow analyses.
Morten Haug Emilsen , AGR’s Manager for Well Control, commented: “The contract reinforces a long-standing collaboration with the largest operator on the NCS. In fact, we have conducted more than 250 studies for Equinor since 1991, and we look forward to building on this experience and know-how over the next couple of years.”
Following last year’s merger with Add Energy, AGR has bolstered its position in well and reservoir engineering, drilling, and technical safety operations, offering comprehensive services to the oil and gas industry throughout the entire life cycle of a well.

This extension comes after AGR got a five-year contract with Vår Energi for the provision of blowout and well control studies and associated services. In December 2023, the firm also won a well management contract for a deepwater exploration well in the Sinapa license offshore Guinea-Bissau.
The Norwegian player has delivered more than 1,800 well contingency plans with over 85 live blowout incidents mitigated.
