Kongsberg Maritime, a Norway-headquartered marine technology company, has been selected to provide advanced deck machinery equipment for a new floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel destined for an undisclosed offshore development in Asian waters.
Kongsberg Maritime has secured what it considers to be a substantial contract with an unnamed company it describes as a major energy operator to deliver a fully integrated mooring and deck machinery solution, including chain pull-in winches, chain stoppers, fairleads, riser pull-in winches, and associated control and automation systems for an FPSO in Asia.
The delivery of the equipment is scheduled for mid-2027. The Norwegian firm explains that a notable technical feature of the project is the large mooring chain dimension, reflecting the demanding operating conditions of the FPSO and the company’s capability to design and supply high-capacity, heavy-duty deck machinery.

This award represents a similar repeat order from the customer, following Kongsberg Maritime’s earlier contract for another FPSO development; thus, the new agreement further strengthens the established relationship between the two companies and builds on successful project execution.
While IP Huse will be responsible for the mechanical design of the deck machinery, Kongsberg Maritime will deliver the automation, control systems, and overall project management. The mechanical components will be manufactured in Norway at IP Huse’s facilities on Harøy, ensuring close integration between engineering, production, and delivery.

Kongsberg Maritime did not disclose the value of the contract or provide further details about the FPSO project, including the country in Asia where the vessel will be deployed, the offshore field it will serve, or the identity of the operator.
The latest deal comes a month after Kongsberg Maritime made a move to bring Berg Propulsion into its fold.
