While pertinent information about the operator and project itself is being kept behind closed doors, Aberdeen-headquartered integrated solutions specialist EnerMech has unveiled a fresh assignment to support a carbon capture and storage development in the United Kingdom (UK), which will form a cornerstone of the nation’s decarbonization roadmap.
EnerMech has been awarded a contract to provide specialist pre-commissioning and commissioning services for a carbon capture and storage project it describes as a “major” development in the UK, which strengthens the firm’s role in supporting complex energy and lower-carbon infrastructure developments around the world.
Charles ‘Chuck’ Davison, Jr., EnerMech’s CEO, commented: “This development represents an important investment in the infrastructure required to support large-scale carbon capture and storage. Our selection reflects the strength of our specialist pre-commissioning and commissioning capabilities, the experience of our people and our ability to execute complex scopes safely and efficiently.
“As investment in decarbonization and energy infrastructure continues to grow, EnerMech is proud to bring its technical expertise to projects that will help advance the next generation of UK and international CCS developments.”
The Aberdeen-based firm will deliver a range of specialist services to support the safe, efficient and compliant readiness of critical transportation and storage infrastructure, including nitrogen services, dewatering, drying, pigging and leak testing, supported by integrated onshore and offshore execution.
This development will form part of the infrastructure needed to transport and permanently store captured carbon dioxide emissions, supporting the nation’s wider decarbonization ambitions.
The scope draws on EnerMech’s experience delivering comparable, technically demanding pipeline, subsea and commissioning programs internationally, including long-distance dewatering and drying, engineered pigging, high-volume nitrogen operations and tightly coordinated onshore-offshore campaigns.
Nuno de Sousa, SVP Energy Solutions & Western Hemisphere at EnerMech, said: “Carbon transportation and storage infrastructure presents distinct technical and operational challenges, particularly when preparing critical subsea systems for safe and reliable operation.
“Our multi-disciplined teams combine engineering expertise, specialist equipment and disciplined execution with extensive experience gained across major pipeline, subsea and commissioning scopes around the world.”
This CCS assignment in the UK comes shortly after EnerMech won a five-year extension of its deal with Chevron in Australia.
