Aker BP charters Solstad’s platform supplier duo

Norwegian oil company Aker BP has hired two large platform supply vessels (PSVs) from compatriot offshore vessel owner Solstad Offshore.
Solstad said on Wednesday that Aker BP hired the Normand Arctic and Normand Leader large PSVs as part of a frame agreement signed between the two companies earlier this month.
The two platform suppliers were called off for 12 months firm with both beginning work in the first quarter of 2019.
As for the frame agreement, it is for three years firm with two two-year options and vessels will be called off each year based on Aker BP’s demand in the coming 12 months.
The agreement, according to Solstad, is expected to significantly contribute to increased utilization of the company’s PSV fleet.
In an Oslo Stock Exchange filing from March 1, Kenneth Lande, Solstad’s EVP AHTS/PSV strategic regions, said: “We are very pleased to be recognized as a quality provider of supply vessel services by Aker BP and look forward to strengthening our already close relation in the years to come.”
It is worth noting that Aker BP also signed identical frame agreements with Simon Møkster Shipping and Eidesvik Offshore.
