Aker Solutions lands FEED work for VNG’s Pil & Bue

Aker Solutions has secured a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract from VNG Norge for the Pil & Bue development, offshore Norway.

To remind, VNG initiated FEED-studies for the project located in the Norwegian Sea in February with a plan to pass the final investment decision (FID) by the end of the year.

The partners in the VNG-operated PL 586 license which holds the development are Spike Exploration, Faroe Petroleum, and Pure E&P Norway with 35%, 25%, and 15% interests, respectively.

The partnership decided on the preferred development solution for the Pil & Bue discoveries in November last year. The selected concept for the field development is a subsea tie-back to the Njord A platform.

Aker Solutions said on Monday that the FEED is for the subsea production system that will be used in a tieback of Pil & Bue to the Njord A platform.

The company also said that it will compete against a design from another company and the company with the winning design will in the fourth quarter of this year be awarded the engineering, procurement and construction contract for Pil & Bue.

“We are very pleased to work with VNG to optimize the subsea field architecture for this development,” said Svenn Ivar Fure, head of Aker Solutions’ front end delivery center.

“We look forward to demonstrating our capabilities and capacity to tie the Pil & Bue development back to the Njord platform.”
