Amec Foster Wheeler man jumps ship for Wood Group role

Oil and gas services firm Wood Group has appointed a former Amec Foster Wheeler man as the president of its European Asset Life Cycle Solutions business.

Wood Group said on Thursday that Alan Johnstone joined the company from the position of Amec’s managing director for upstream asset solutions.

He brings almost three decades of North Sea, Southern North Sea, and Caspian oil and gas experience, Wood Group added.

Johnstone is a long-standing member of Step Change in Safety’s leadership team and former co-chair of the organization’s asset integrity steering group. He was the chairman of the Offshore Contractors’ Association for three years, until August 2016.

Dave Stewart, CEO for Wood Group’s Asset Life Cycle Solutions business in the Eastern region, said: “Alan’s extensive expertise, robust knowledge, and experience at the fore of many significant UKCS projects, positions him strongly to lead our European business.”

Johnstone added: “My focus will be on galvanizing the collective strength of Wood Group’s vast global capabilities and expertise to continue to deliver smart solutions that meet the needs of our clients, against the backdrop of an evolving industry landscape.

“I look forward to leading the team in Europe with a strong focus on seeking new opportunities for us to extend and enhance how we support our clients.”
