Argentina: YPF issues tender seeking nine LNG cargoes

YPF of Argentina has reportedly issued a tender to purchase nine cargoes of liquefied natural gas for June to August delivery.

Reuters reports, citing trade sources, that the deadline for bid submissions has been set to May 17 with the results to be revealed on May 18.

At the end of April, Argentina’s Enarsa cancelled a similar tender due to lower than hoped offers.

Enarsa cancelled the tender because the price of around US$5/mmBtu was higher compared to the tender that closed in March that had the prices in the $4/mmBtu region.

Cargoes to Argentina are usually split between the two terminals, the 500 mmscf/d GNL Escobar terminal located on the Parana River, some 30 miles outside Buenos Aires and the Bahia Blanca terminal located some 400 miles south of Buenos Aires, with the same baseload regasification capacity.
