Baker Hughes: Offshore Rig Count in November Up by 16

Baker Hughes Incorporated announced today that the international rig count for November 2013 was 1,311, down 4 from the 1,315 counted in October 2013, and up 44 from the 1,267 counted in November 2012.

The international offshore rig count for November 2013 was 316, unchanged from October 2013, and up 16 from the 300 counted in November 2012.

The average U.S. rig count for November 2013 was 1,756, up 12 from the 1,744 counted in October 2013, and down 53 from the 1,809 counted in November 2012. The average Canadian rig count for November 2013 was 385, up 7 from the 378 counted in October 2013, and unchanged from November 2012.

The worldwide rig count for November 2013 was 3,452, up 15 from the 3,437 counted in October 2013, and down 9 from the 3,461 counted in November 2012.

The Baker Hughes Rotary Rig Counts are counts of the number of drilling rigs actively exploring for or developing oil or natural gas in the United States, Canada and international markets.  Baker Hughes has issued the rotary rig counts as a service to the petroleum industry since 1944, when Hughes Tool Company began weekly counts of US and Canadian drilling activity.  Baker Hughes initiated the monthly international rig count in 1975.
