BHP Billiton, BG Group successfully bid for Trinidad offshore acreage

UK’s BG Group and Australia’s BHP Billiton have been announced as successful bidders in the 2013 offshore licencing round in Trinidad & Tobago.

The twin island Carribean country’s Ministry of Energy and Energy Affairs revealed the names of the successful bidders in 2013 Deepwater Competitive Bid Round on its official website.

The blocks and the successful bidders are as follows:

Trinidad and Tobago Deep Atlantic Area 3 (TTDAA 3): BHP Billiton Petroleum (International Exploration) Pty Ltd. and BG International Limited
Trinidad and Tobago Deep Atlantic Area 7 (TTDAA 7): BHP Billiton Petroleum (International Exploration) Pty Ltd. and BG International Limited

The energy ministry will now enter into negotiations for a Production Sharing Contract for each Block, subject to the positive vetting by the Attorney General.

To remind, The Trinidad and Tobago 2013 Deepwater Competitive Bid Round closed on March 28, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. Three bids were received for two of the six blocks offered.

Spanish Repsol was in the race for TTDAA 3 block too, but the energy ministry opted for BHP/BG joint bid.
