Brazil: Investigations on Oil Sheen Near Frade Block Continue

INPEX CORPORATION announces an oil sheen has occurred in the vicinity of the Chevron Brazil operated Frade Oil Field located offshore north east of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil .

Based on the information from Chevron, the current estimates of the total volume on the surface is estimated at less than 10 cubic meters of oil. Chevron Brazil has notified the appropriate agencies and is working with industry partners to deploy response vessels to control the sheen and minimize any environmental impact. Investigations into the causes of the sheen are continuing.

An inspection of the Frade facility has determined that production activities are unrelated to the sheen and production is continuing.

In the project, operations are being carried out by an international consortium composed of Chevron Brazil(the operator) , Petrobras and FJPL (*) .

(*) FJPL is actually a wholly-owned subsidiary of INPEX Offshore North Campos, Ltd. (an equity method affiliate of INPEX CORPORATION)and the shareholders are: Japan Oil,Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC), INPEX  CORPORATION and Sojitz Corporation .
