Brazil: Leak at Sevan Driller Control Line

Brazil: Leak at Sevan Driller Control Line

Sevan Drilling, an international drilling contractor specializing in the ultra deepwater (UDW) segment, has reported that on Friday afternoon, during a routine pressure test of the BOP a leak was found in a control line of Sevan Driller ultra deepwater rig.

To replace the control line the BOP has been pulled and repairs are underway.

“We expect to be back on full dayrate by the end of this week (approximately 7 days of downtime). There was no leak to the sea and the well is secure,” said Sevan Drilling in a statement.

In June 2010, UDW Sevan Driller became the world’s first cylindrical drilling rig to commence operation. The rig is currently operating under a six year contract for Petrobras S.A. offshore Brazil.
