BSEE Official to Speak at DecomWorld’s 6th Summit (USA)

To kick off what is being called a “bedding down year” for regulations in the Gulf of Mexico, a senior BSEE official will address the largest decommissioning and abandonment gathering in the world in Houston.

Susan Green, deputy regional supervisor for field operations in the Gulf of Mexico for the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), will deliver an update on BSEE’s vision and priorities at DecomWorld’s 6th Annual Decommissioning & Abandonment Summit in March.

BSEE representatives will also be involved in other key panel discussions, including those on reefing rigs and severance techniques.

Summit organizers say the industry will be keen to hear from BSEE following a turbulent period in the regulatory environment in the Gulf post-Macondo, a period that saw a major reorganization of the Department of the Interior’s offshore structure and new regulations such as SEMS II.

“Operators and the whole supply chain are looking forward to a bedding down year where they can build on their early experiences of meeting new responsibilities and obligations,” said DecomWorld project director Phil Chadney.

“The chance to hear directly from BSEE in a forum like this will be invaluable.”

The 6th Annual Decommissioning & Abandonment Summit takes place 10-12 March, 2014 in Houston.
