Shenhua Energy Wins Hunan Shale Gas Block

Shenhua Geological Exploration, a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Shenhua Energy Company, has won the tender for the Hunan Baojing Shale Gas Block in the 2012 shale gas exploration concession tender of the Ministry of Land and Resources of China.

According to the tender document published by the Ministry of Land and Resources, the Baojing Block is located in Baojing County, Hunan Province with an area of 1,189 square kilometres.

The exploration right of the Baojing Block will be valid for 3 years from the effective date of the exploration licence. According to the bidding document, the aggregated proposed investment of Shenhua Geological Exploration Company for the exploration of the Baojing Block amounts to RMB874.47 million. T

he expected exploration results will include reserve, inventory characteristics, distribution and reservoir features of the shale gas resources in the block, the scope of resources that is worthy of mass industrial development and studies of the exploration and development techniques for the shale gas resources in the block.
