CIMC delivers another jack-up rig

China’s shipyard CIMC raffles has delivered a jack-up rig to Sinopec Sheng Li Petroleum Engineering Co., Ltd. on 6th June 2014.

This was the 7th jack-up drilling rigs that CIMC Raffles has delivered. It will be towed to Bohai Bay providing drilling service to Sinopec Sheng Li Oilfield soon.

The rig “New Sheng Li 1#” was the first new-build offshore drilling rig since Sinopec Oilfield Service Corporation was founded in 2012. The basic design and detail design was done by Sheng Li Drilling Technology Research Institute, the shop design and construction design was completed by CIMC Raffles.

According to CIMC,  the “New Sheng Li 1#” is the largest and most advanced offshore drilling rig that Sheng Li Oilfield currentlys.

Its modular length is 56 m, modular breadth is 54 m, modular depth is 5.5 m. The rig is able to operate in water depth up to 50 m, and has a drilling depth up to 7000 m. The rig is equipped with a cantilever and a top drive, it is able to drill up to 30 wells at most in one stand. Classed by CCS.

CIMC began the rig construction on 25th June 2013. The whole project only took 346 days to complete, it is the shortest construction period compare with other rigs of similar type.
