China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL), a Chinese offshore services provider, has begun working on its Integrated Project Management (IPM) assignment offshore Mexico.

To remind, COSL signed an integrated service contract with Hokchi Energy S.A. de C.V., a subsidiary of Pan American Energy LLC, for operations offshore Mexico back in August.

Under the terms of the contract, that was scheduled to begin in October, COSL would provide services with its COSLHunter jack-up drilling rig and the HYSY 614 marine support vessel.

The company said on Thursday that the rig recently began drilling operations while the marine support vessel, HYSY 614, arrived at the destination port Dos Bocas after passing inspection. The project is progressing well, the company added.

Upon receiving the contract in August, COSL noted this was the first oilfield service project available for tender by an oil company outside Mexico after the energy reforms in Mexico. In addition, this is COSL’s first marine support deal in the Gulf of Mexico, and it marks the company’s expansion into that market and increases the company’s share in overseas markets.
