DeepOcean charters Boskalis’ recently purchased subsea vessel

DeepOcean has signed an agreement with Boskalis for the charter of a subsea vessel the Dutch company recently purchased from Norwegian vessel operator Sea1 Offshore.

Boka Spearfish, to be renamed from Sea1 Spearfish, will join DeepOcean’s fleet of advanced subsea vessels for the remainder of 2026, with additional options.

Following a short mobilization, the vessel will be equipped with two work-class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and other mission-critical systems.

“Boka Spearfish, to be renamed from Sea1 Spearfish, is already well known to DeepOcean, having previously operated on charter with consistently strong performance. Her capabilities remain well aligned with customer needs, making her a solid addition to the fleet,” DeepOcean said.

Boskalis reported in September 2025 that it had added the 120-meter-long, 2014-built construction support vessel (CSV) to its fleet.

The vessel, of STX OSCV 03 design and accommodation for 110 persons, marked the third CSV to join Boskalis’ fleet in less than a year, following the BOKA Pioneer and the BOKA Pride.

Boka Spearfish has a 250-ton offshore crane, a 1,350 m2 deck area, and SCR technology for reduced emissions.
