DONG Divests Its Dutch Business

DONG Energy signed an agreement to divest its sales activities in the Netherlands – DONG Energy Sales B.V. – to Eneco.

The divestment is still subject to certain conditions, including merger control clearance in the Netherlands.

The divestment will not alter the focus on the Netherlands as a part of DONG Energy’s geographical footprint, including inter alia activities in offshore wind and LNG shipping through the terminal in Rotterdam. the company said in a statement.

DONG Energy Sales B.V. sells electricity and gas to residential and commercial customers and manages back-office-services to a third party. The transaction concerns the sales activities only. Communication with the respective works councils has been initiated regarding the affected employees.

“We are very pleased”, says Jeroen de Haas, chairman of the board of Eneco Group. “This agreement allows us to supply energy to a group of customers that has deliberately decided to purchase sustainable energy. This is perfectly in line with Eneco’s ambition to make sustainable energy available to everyone.”
