EGAS gets first LNG cargo from Gazprom

EGAS of Egypt has received its first liquefied natural gas cargo from Russian gas giant Gazprom on Sunday.

The Qatar-sourced cargo was delivered onboard the 154,880 cbm Yenisei River, which is under long-term charter to Gazprom from Dynagas, Platts reported.

The vessel departed from Ain Sokhna, where Höegh Gallant FSRU is located, on Monday, shipping data shows.

The FSRU started serving as Egypt’s first LNG import terminal in April of 2015 under a five-year contract.

EGAS has in March this year signed a deal to import 35 cargoes of LNG from Gazprom over five years.

The LNG  shipments were set to begin from the second half of 2015, with seven cargoes arriving per year.
