Engie’s trading unit named Engie Global Markets

French utility and LNG player Engie on Monday revealed its unit GDF Suez Trading has been renamed Engie Global Markets.

Engie Global Markets serves as Engie’s trading arm engaged in business activities including liquefied natural gas.

According to Engie Global Markets’ website, the company is, among other activities, providing optimisation to the 1,260 TWh gas supply of the group.

The renamed trading arm covers Europe and Asia-Pacific through its four trading floors in Paris, Brussels, Rome and Singapore, Engie said.

Philippe Vedrenne was recently appointed as chief executive officer of Engie Global Markets.

Engie added that its newly renamed unit was granted a regulated status of investment service provider and is supervised by the French banking authority “Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution” (ACPR).
