Eni completes first Zohr production test

Italian giant Eni said on Thursday it has performed the production test at the Zohr 2X well, the first appraisal well of the Zohr gas field off Egypt, discovered in August last year.

Eni said in a statement that 20 meters of the reservoir were opened to production, noting it delivered up to 44 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.

Well’s production capacity is estimated at 250 mscfd or 46,000 barrel of oil equivalent.

Eni added that in 2016, three additional wells will be drilled while works on the onshore gas treatment plant have already started.

Eni owns 100 percent stake in the Shorouk block, where the giant Zohr gas field was discovered.

The operations are conducted by Petrobel, a joint venture between Eni’s unit IEOC and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation.
