Eriksson Diving: Wreck of S/S Dorita Discovered

Business & Finance

Swedish subsea contractor Eriksson Diving said it has discovered a shipwreck in the Bothnian Sea, which is believed to be the S/S Dorita.

The cargo vessel was carrying iron ore from Sweden to Germany and was sunk in 1916 by a Russian submarine using a torpedo.

The wreck is said to be positioned inside the Swedish 3-mile border, in 175 meters off water.

The company used its klein 3000 side scan sonar for the area search and is planning to inspect the wreck, with its SAAB Seaeye Falcon ROV equipped with Kongsberg scanning sonar and HD video camera.

To obtain coordinates of various wreck parts, Eriksson Diving will use Eiva Navipac with an USBL system.
