Swire said on Wednesday that Martin Shaw was named as the new chief financial officer, effective August 1.

Shaw will be based in the Aberdeen headquarters and will be responsible for the group finance function including planning, accounting and reporting, tax and treasure, HR and IT, in addition to driving improvements in financial performance and control as part of the executive management team.

He joins Swire from Ocean Installer, where he held the CFO position for the last five years. A chartered accountant from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Shaw brings over 20 years of experience, previously holding various finance roles within the oil and gas industry and over ten years based in London within the investment banking sector.

Regarding his appointment, Shaw said: “I am delighted to be joining Swire Oilfield Services. The company has a longstanding reputation within the oil and gas industry, and I look forward to supporting its ongoing growth and service diversification across its global operations.”

The appointment comes following Swire’s recent acquisition of aviation service company Gordon Engineering Services.

Manfred Vonlanthen, Swire Oilfield Services CEO, said: “Martin’s appointment comes at a pivotal point in our company’s history, as we strive towards service offering expansion across our global business. The wealth of experience Martin brings not just from the oil and gas industry but also the investment banking sector will make him an invaluable member to the executive management team, and the wider business.”
