Excelerate Energy has binned the Aguirre Offshore LNG GasPort, a floating LNG regasification terminal proposed off the southern coast of Puerto Rico.

The facility would have consisted of a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) with a baseload capacity of 500 mmscf/d, minimal infrastructure to moor the vessel, and a subsea pipeline to deliver the gas onshore.

However, in its filing to the United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Excelerate Energy said that “as a result of changed circumstances, the Aguirre Offshore GasPort project, including the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal conditionally authorized in the Authorization Order, has been canceled.”

The company added that no construction has been undertaken on the project to date, and thus there are no facilities in service.
