Falck joins forces with EPIT, expands training services

Falck Safety Services (Falck) has formed a strategic alliance with EPIT, a hazardous and industrial areas training specialist, in order to expand its training services offer across the North-east UK.

Falck says that, following demand for highly specialised training in the North-East, it can now offer EPIT’s hazardous area explosion protection training to the oil and gas and related industries. The company has 36 training centres across the world, including four UK sites in Peterhead, Aberdeen, Montrose and Teesside.

EPIT is an approved certified CompEx centre that offers courses to electrical and instrumentation technicians. In addition, EPIT’s Competency Plus Programme includes a range of Ex, ATEX, Mechanical, High Voltage/Low Voltage and Electrical Safety courses, all of which are accredited by City and Guilds.

With a large range of EPIT courses being introduced to Falck’s training portfolio, the safety provider will now offer a realistic and simulated training environment allowing electrical and instrumentation technicians to meet national competence standards.

Requirements of the North Sea market

Falck’s delegates will undertake the specialised training at EPIT’s custom-built facility in Blackburn, Aberdeen, equipping them with the technical expertise to handle hazardous area equipment on and offshore.

Colin Leyden, managing director of Falck Safety Services UK, said: “We are always looking for ways to enhance our course portfolio as we strive to be at the forefront of safety training in oil and gas and other related industries. The strategic alliance that has been formed with EPIT will enable us to provide our customers with the highest standards of quality, service and reliability in electrical explosion protection training.

“The new offering will leverage on Falck’s extensive high quality training capabilities, combined with EPIT’s technical knowledge and consultancy experience. Having launched the specialised training programme internationally at the start of the year, we are now able to offer it from the UK, targeting the requirements of the North Sea market.”

Jim Craig, managing director at EPIT Group, said: “All of our EPIT instructors are ex-industry with many years of experience. It is important that candidates feel at ease with them and work with the instructors to expand their knowledge and competency when handling the electrical equipment.”

“EPIT and Falck share similar values in terms of providing a high quality, reliable training service and the alliance will also implement a slicker booking process for candidates looking to undertake the training.”
