Farstad elects new managing director for Australia

Offshore service vessel provider Farstad Shipping has appointed Brett Silich as a new managing director for the Australian organization.

This follows Farstad Shipping’s commitment to consolidate the Australian offices and locate the head office closer to the cluster of key clients.

Namely, the company in September decided to concentrate its oil service activity in Australia to Perth and close down the management office in Melbourne.

Silich will start his new role on December 12, 2016. He replaces Wayne Aitken, who has headed local Farstad Shipping operations for more than four years.

According to Farstad, Silich has extensive subsea, drilling and shipping experience. He has previously worked in senior positions at Maersk Supply Service, Subsea 7 and been CEO at Velocious. He holds an Honors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Curtin University, Australia.

“I look forward to participating in the further development of the company and cementing its 19- year history in the region through first class customer support and flawless operations,” Silich said.

“It is a significant that Brett has accepted the position as Managing Director,” Farstad Shipping CEO, Karl-Johan Bakken, said.
