First modules sail away for Upper Zakum field

Petrofac, a UK-based oilfield services provider, has informed that the first two modules sailed away for ZADCO’s Upper Zakum, UZ750 field development, located offshore Abu Dhabi.

Petrofac is taking part in the development of the field in partnership with South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, under a $3.7 billion contract awarded in April 2013.

The UZ750 project is located 80km off the coast of Abu Dhabi, and is being constructed on artificial islands.

The project comprises engineering, procurement, modules and buildings fabrication , transportation, construction and commissioning of island surface facilities (EPC-2) on four artificial islands. These facilities are now expected to start operations in 2017, later that originally expected.

To remind, the original contract signed in 2013, said the start-up of production from the field would begin in 2016.
