Fugro Provides Offshore Positioning Services for Chevron in Angola

Dutch company Fugro has won a three-year contract by Chevron’s subsidiary Cabinda Gulf Oil Company Ltd, to support its development program at Block 0, off the coast of Cabinda province, Angola.

The contract covers the provision of offshore positioning assistance and accurate navigation systems for Chevron’s drilling rig, vessels and structures, together with both onshore and offshore survey services. Fugro’s offshore geophysical data acquisition services will be supplemented by data processing, interpretation and reporting. At Chevron’s onshore facilities in Malongo, Fugro’s survey services will include subsidence evaluations, topographical surveys, chart production, interpretation and reporting.

Perro Negro 6 incident

Meanwhile, there is still no information on the faith of the worker who went missing in Angolan waters after the Chevron-contracted jack-up rig capsized and sank during positioning maneuver last Monday. In its latest press release, dated July 4th, Saipem, the owner of the Perro Negro 6 rig, informed that the search for the missing crew member was still ongoing.
