Gallery: Island Venture offshore construction vessel launched


Ulstein shipyard in Norway on Tuesday launched the Island Venture offshore construction vessel.

The vessel, of the Ulstein SX165 design, is one of the largest vessels built at the yard so far. It is being built for Island Ventures II, a joint venture between Edison Chouest Offshore, and Island Offshore.

According to the contract signed in October 2013, the vessel is expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2015.

The vessel is 28 metres wide and 145.7 metres long and can accommodate 200 people. It is equipped with two cranes that can lift 400 tons and 140 tons, respectively. Its moon pool measures 11.2 by 12 metres and it has plus two smaller moon pools with ROVs installed in a centrally located hangar.
