Platform deck for Det norske’s Ivar Aasen field, located in the North Sea, arrived in Norway early this morning.

The Norwegian oil company informed through social media channels that Cosco’s transport vessel, the Xiang Rui Kou, docked in Norway on Monday morning after a long journey from Singapore.

The platform deck was completed in May at the Sembawang yard, a subsidiary of Sembcorp Marine Offshore Platforms, and the transport vessel started its journey in early June.

Ivar Aasen field is located on the Utsira Height in the North Sea where, following the arrival, the platform deck will be lifted onto the jacket, which was constructed in Sardinia, and the living quarters, which were built at Stord.

The production from the field is scheduled to start around December 1, 2016. The Ivar Aasen field is Det norske’s first major development project as operator and the company’s partners in the project are Statoil, Bayergas Norge, Wintershall, VNG, Lundin and OMV.

The Ivar Aasen field is located west of the Johan Sverdrup field in the North Sea and contains approximately 204 million barrels of oil equivalent. The economic life of the Ivar Aasen field could be 20 years, depending on oil prices and production trends.
