Golar LNG, Schlumberger stay committed to FLNG parntership

Golar LNG, the owner and operator of LNG carriers on Friday informed that its framework agreement with Schlumberger is unaffected by the latter’s withdrawal from the Fortuna/Ophir development.

The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding in January to work on developing greenfield, brownfield and stranded gas reserves using FLNG technology.

According to Golar LNG’s statement, over the past few months, the two companies investigated the FLNG concept confirming its commercial and technical viability as a solution for rapid monetization of stranded gas.

Additionally, Golar noted it will continue its work with Ophir with the target to reach an FID for the Fortuna FLNG development during this year, even though no commercial agreement has been reached between Ophir and Schlumberger.
