The first order came from the Chinese shipyard Jiangnan, on behalf of an international shipowner, for one LNG carrier.

The second order was placed by the Chinese shipyard Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company (DSIC), on behalf of China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES), for the other two vessels.

To remind, CMES booked two 175,000 cbm LNG carriers at DSIC last month, marking the first LNG carrier construction project for the shipyard.

GTT was contracted to design the tanks of the vessel that will also be fitted with the Mark III Flex membrane containment system from the French company.

Delivery of the vessels is scheduled between the third and fourth quarters of 2026.

Earlier this month, GTT signed technical assistance and license agreement with China Merchants Heavy Industries-Jiangsu (CMHI-Jiangsu), a subsidiary of China Merchants Industry Holdings (CMI).

The agreement will enable the shipbuilder to build vessels using GTT’s membrane technologies as it enters the large-capacity LNG carriers’ construction.
