Concept selection for Johan Sverdrup was made in February 2014. The field is located south of Grane, north-east of Sleipner and about 140 km west of Stavanger. Water depth in the area is 110-120 meters. Production start-up is expected in late 2019.

The main objectives of the project is to optimize the solution for the field and field pipelines and develop a robust and cost effective solution for implementation of the project. The project will start immediately.

Managing Director at IKM Ocean Design, Peder Hoås, said in a statement that IKM Ocean Design is very pleased to be awarded the contract. “Our experience and expertise fits very well with the many challenges for a phased development of the Johan Sverdrup field. This is a continuation of the good work carried out in previous project phases and allows us to further support Statoil and its partners in the design of field architecture and subsea solutions for the largest oil discoveries on the Norwegian continental shelf in thirty years.”
