Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. has newly developed a 63,000M.T. D/W Type Bulk Carrier “IS” NEW I-STAR, which is to be called NEW I-STAR.

The predecessor of this vessel is “IS” I-STAR (commonly called I-STAR). The first vessel of the series was completed in September 2010, and fifty-five (55) vessels have already been delivered, gaining top-class share in the global fleet of this category. In addition to plentiful construction record, the vessel has been enjoying very high reputation from domestic and overseas clients for its superb performance under actual navigation.

NEW I-STAR design is based on I-STAR, with increased deadweight by 2,000 tons, and decreased fuel consumption by around 12% as a result of reviewing the main propulsion unit and energy saving technologies. The vessel has become more economical and environmentally-friendly.

“We will push forward to building far better vessels in order to respond to the expectation and long-lasting satisfaction of our customers,” the company commented in a press release.
