Inocean Hopes to Win Cat-I Drillship FEED from Statoil

Inocean Hopes to Design Cat I Drillship for Statoil

On Tuesday 07.05.2013, at 21:00 Norwegian time, under the heading “Driving Innovation through Collaboration in the Rig Market”, Statoil revealed the first concepts competing for its CAT-I unit – A drillship designed for arctic areas. Inocean is one of three players participating in the ongoing feasibility study.

“It’s a stimulating and demanding project and an enormous inspiration for our engineers and designers,” says Jon Erik Borgen, CEO at Inocean.

“Given the extreme challenges and framework conditions associated with activities in Arctic waters, we are probably speaking of the most advanced and sophisticated technology ever evolved in this field. Having the opportunity to develop the drillship of tomorrow is a solid recognition of our design and engineering capabilities. Of course we hope Inocean will be chosen when Statoil announces the winner of the final contract for the Concept and FEED studies” says Borgen.

The project is today in a development phase focusing on finding safe and robust solutions for demanding operations in a vulnerable environment.
