IRClass opens Abu Dhabi office

Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass), a classification society covering a range of shipping, offshore and industrial projects, has opened an office in Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi is the second office location for IRClass in the Middle East, following Dubai, and reflects the society’s strong commitment to the region, it has been said in the IRClass’ press release.

C. Sriramamurthy, Chief Operating Officer at IRClass, said: “Oil & Gas is an important growth area for IRClass and Abu Dhabi is therefore a pivotal market location. This new office will enable our close proximity to customers and ability to better service the needs of the offshore as well as onshore sectors.”

Sriramamurthy added that IRClass would offer various services through its new office, including design validation of ships and offshore structures, technical inspection & certification of jack-up barges, offshore platforms, sub-marine pipelines, refinery shutdown services, plus inspection of machinery, equipment and pipes.

“All these services are naturally in addition to our core ship classification capability,” he said.

The IRClass CEO further said that the society sees enormous potential in the Middle East market, which is reflected in the establishment of its second office in the region.

“Our growth strategy includes further strengthening our presence in other important territories such as South East Asia and Africa,” Sriramamurthy concluded.
