Japan Jan LNG Imports Down YoY

Japan, the world’s biggest buyer of liquefied natural gas, imported 8.18 million tonnes of LNG in January, down 0.8 percent from January in 2012, the country’s Ministry of Finance said on Thursday.

The country paid an average price of $16.57 per million British thermal units for LNG in January, up 1.8 percent year on year.

Most of the January LNG imports came from Australia, Qatar and Malaysia.
